Joyce Kuechler Honored with Marlene F. Richman Award

Joyce Kuechler’s commitment to students has been recognized with the Marlene F. Richman Award for Excellence and Dedication in Service to Students. Kuechler, Department Coordinator for the Department of Art History, was praised in her nominations as a thoughtful and caring student advocate who offers a “mixture of compassion and practical advice.”

New Summer Language Institute Offers Courses on Wide Range of Languages

This summer, students at the University of Chicago and from all over the country will have the opportunity to brush up on everything from their ancient Greek to their Georgian as part of the University of Chicago’s new Summer Language Institute.

College Art Association Honors UChicago Faculty

The College Art Association (CAA) will honor the teaching and research of several faculty members from the Division of the Humanities at its 2014 Annual Conference on February 12-15.

Janice Knight Featured on City-Wide "Lit 50" List

Janice Knight, Associate Professor in English Language and Literature, received the #11 spot on Newcity Lit's 2013 "Lit 50" list for her accomplishments as Chair of the Committee on Creative Writing as well as her work on Early American colonialism, religion, and gender. The annual list recognizes leaders in the Chicago literary scene, with a special focus this year on "celebrating not so much the writers who occupy the center stage, but those who operate behind the scenes to make sure the stage itself exists."
