Our office is open Monday - Thursday for appointments (no walk ins), and staff will be available remotely on Fridays. You can reach us at humdos@uchicago.edu for any questions, concerns, or to schedule an appointment with one of our team members.

The Dean of Students Office within the Division of the Humanities provides clear and critical support structures to students and advances the academic mission through an inclusive and student-centered approach. In collaboration with the departments within the Division of the Humanities as well as the broader University community, we support students’ education and development both inside and outside the classroom.

The Dean of Students Office includes, but is not limited to, the following services and support structures:

  • Serve as a point of contact for prospective students
  • Oversee the admission and matriculation of all students
  • Approve departmental financial aid recommendations and fellowships
  • Advise students on questions regarding the Division of the Humanities policies
  • Organize and support special events including orientation and Convocation
  • Manage student disciplinary processes
  • Work with students on issues of concern and connect them to UChicago resources
  • Manage grievance procedure for students
  • Serve as a liaison between Student Disability Services and faculty/staff
  • In collaboration with UChicagoGRAD, support career advising and mentoring
  • Provide student engagement opportunities including the Dean’s Student Advisory Board

Dean of Students Open Office Hours

The Dean of Students, Shea Wolfe, will be available to meet with students privately during open office hours to address any concerns, questions, or issues that may arise during their time at UChicago. These open office hours will be held on Wednesdays from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. via Zoom
