CATC Educator Webinar: Mindful Approaches to Teaching and Learning Language: Fostering Peace and Proficiency at the Same Time with Justin Slocum Bailey
|When||February 27, 2021 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM |
|Contact Information||Center for Middle Eastern Studies |
|Description||Teachers know that stress and anxiety can have serious effects on learning and on teachers' and students' well-being, but we already have so little time with students that taking some to address stress during class seems unthinkable. This session offers a powerful solution: practices for cultivating mindful calm while increasing target-language proficiency at the same time. The main focus is on comprehensible-input-rich mindful listening tasks with a variety of topics at a variety of language levels, with additional activities that foster other elements of proficiency and of mindfulness. Participants in the session will experience the strategies through simulations conducted in English, and explore applications for their classes. |
