Tea Time Concert: Volta Quartet
|When||January 11, 2018 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM |
|Where||Fulton Hall |
|Contact Information||Music Department |
|Description||This week's concert features the Chicago-based Volta String Quartet performing Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade and Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 5. The Volta String Quartet started in 2016 and is based in Chicago. Its members met while studying music in college or music festivals and while working in Chicago. Because most of their individual schedules consist of playing in orchestras and teaching, they decided to form a quartet in order to play some of their favorite pieces of chamber music. They have performed at various venues in Chicago and Madison, WI. |
The weekly Tea Time Concert Series includes a wide variety of musical genres, instruments and repertoire selections featuring both student and faculty performers from the University of Chicago as well as professional musicians from the Chicagoland area.
Each concert is free and open to the public, every Thursday afternoon in Fulton Recital Hall (fourth floor of Goodspeed Hall). Complimentary tea and cookies are served in the Fulton Hall lobby at 4:15pm and the concert begins promptly at 4:30pm.
