DescriptionThis International Conference will feature scholars from Europe, Latin America and the U.S. who will focus on the major critical approaches to early modern Spanish theater and its historicity. The Conference will highlight cultural and political authority as depicted in the plays of the period. Speakers include researchers from various literary fields, from history, theater history, and transatlantic studies. Speakers range from Oxford to Chicago and from Madrid to Peru.

Co-sponsored by the Department of Romance Languages & Literatures, the Center for Latin American Studies, the Tinker Foundation, Consulado de EspaƱa, Instituto Cervantes, and the Franke Institute for the Humanities.
