Applications for admission to all graduate programs in the Division of Humanities are processed by the Office of Admissions in the Office of the Dean of Students. Questions about the application process should be directed to humanitiesadmissions@uchicago.edu or 773/702-1552.
Information about and answers to questions regarding specific programs can be found at the Web sites of the departments and committees. Please see the University's Time Schedules for current course offerings.
Applications to divisional programs are now open. Please click on The Application at left to begin the process.
Please be aware that applicants from previous years will no longer be able to re-activate their earlier application but must instead submit a new online application and all new supplemental materials and pay the application fee. A partial exception to this practice applies to applicants who applied to the MAPH program for 2007-2008 and were admitted. These applicants should contact Joan Wellman, Associate Director of MAPH, about how to resubmit an application to the program.
The Committees on the History of Culture and Jewish Studies are not accepting applications for 2008-2009.
For all Humanities graduate programs, the deadline for receipt of completed applications for admission in 2008-2009 is 17th DECEMBER 2007. All admission and aid decisions are sent by U.S. mail during the first week in March. All domestically and most internationally mailed letters or packets should arrive before April 1. Please understand that we cannot relay decisions by phone or e-mail.
Please be aware that applications will be evaluated on the basis of materials received in our office at the time of the regular review period. Late applications or application materials (i.e., those received after the deadline) will be considered only as long as places are available in the relevant programs. Financial aid (other than loans) is not available for late applicants.
