DIANA GEORGE
Filzbad
The Autumn 2005 issue
included this short story by Diana George. Editor Joshua Kotin
recently recollected how the piece came to CR:
One of my first editorial assignments at CR was to
read a bunch of stories that had been laying around the office,
awaiting acceptance or, more likely, rejection. Diana George's
"Filtzbad" stuck out, a sure thing. I read the story repeatedly
(even on an airplane to Budapest) and used it as a litmus test as I
assembled my editorial staff —as I'm sure Eirik [Steinhoff, editor
at the time] had used it on me. He solicited the story, I think,
after receiving a tip from Brian Everson, who perhaps was giving us a
test of his own. Regardless, it's the finest story I've read
during my tenure at CR.
Diana George’s most recent volume is Disciplines
(Noemi).
