Four Poems

In the late 1990s Alice Notley contributed essays on Douglas Oliver and Anne Waldman to CR. The four poems printed in the Spring 2005 issue (which included a special section called "Christopher Middleton: Portraits") are indicative of both Notley’s formal evolution and her ongoing commitment to critically feminist poetics. Notley, whose attention to the political and social grievances of the world within is often combined with description of the architecture and exteriors of the world around us, included two of the poems (“Oath” and “Grave of Light”) in Grave of Light: New and Selected Poems (Wesleyan University Press, 2006); a collection of her essays, Coming After, was published in 2006 by Michigan.
