My role as Staff Manager is twofold. I serve as the human resources representative for the Division in liaison with Central Human Resources. In this role, I help establish divisional policies that are in line with university policies and implement them in the areas of staff hiring practices, equity in pay, performance reviews, employee learning and growth, discipline, termination, and other related areas within the life cycle of a staff position. My other priority is to assist chairpersons in degree-granting departments by co-hiring, training, and supervising department coordinators and their assistants. Although I can help oversee day-to-day operations in these units upon request, my focus is to bring the staff together to collectively improve the management of administrative events that occur within the academic year.

I was previously the administrator in the Department of English for six years, which provided me with an understanding of the administrative responsibilities of a degree-granting unit. I was also a supervisor for over ten years, working in the manufacturing and construction industries--diverse roles that I have found useful in being a human resources representative. I enjoy working on staffing relations so call me anytime the need arises!
