Stuart Creason (Ph.D. Chicago) works in the areas of ancient Hebrew and Aramaic grammar and text interpretation, in particular the application of modern linguistic methods to the data provided by ancient Hebrew and Aramaic texts for the purpose of more refined and accurate grammatical analysis. His dissertation (currently being revised for publication by Eisenbrauns) focuses on the classification of Hebrew verbs by semantic class and the implications of this classification for the delineation of the relationships between the various verbal binyanim (or stems). Recent work includes a forthcoming article on "Aramaic" in The Encyclopedia of the World’s Ancient Languages. (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press). Teaching responsibilites cover the full range of ancient Aramaic dialects (including Syriac) as well as elementary Classical Hebrew.
