AID APPLICATION DEADLINES

NOTE: Applications that have a deadline date “to NELC” are vetted by the department before being sent to the Dean of Students Office. Please be sure you adhere to this internal deadline, not a deadline you might see elsewhere or one mentioned by a student in another department.

Dolores Liebmann Fellowship

Purpose: provide funding for students with demonstrated financial need and outstanding records

Qualifications: outstanding record, demonstrated financial need, US citizen

application must be submitted to NELC by November 30, 2007

NELC will forward to Walker 111 by December 10, 2007

In-residence Aid (blue forms)

Purpose: provide University aid (anyone already holding a University award must submit one)

Qualifications: graduate student

application must be submitted to Walker 111 by January 11, 2008

In-residence FLAS (Title VI)

Purpose: provide funding for students studying designated modern foreign languages

Qualifications: Scholastic Residence, US citizen or Permanent Resident

application must be submitted to Walker 111 by January 18, 2008

Stuart Tave Teaching Fellowships

Purpose: offer students a teaching opportunity

Qualifications: must be admitted to candidacy by September 30, 2008

application must be submitted to NELC by January 18, 2008

NELC will forward to Harper Memorial 228 by January 31, 2008

Overseas Dissertation Research Grants

Purpose: support for students financing their own dissertation research overseas

Qualifications: all coursework completed by June, 2008; approved dissertation topic by November 1, 2008; admitted to candidacy before departure overseas; able to begin overseas research by April 1, 2009

application must be submitted to Walker 111 by April 14, 2008 NOTE CHANGE!

Dissertation-year Fellowships (Whiting, Franke, Harper, Mellon)

Purpose: encourage completion of dissertation

Qualification: must be admitted to candidacy by April 03, 2008

application must be submitted to NELC by March 14, 2008

NELC will forward to Walker 111 by April 03, 2008

Ryerson Traveling Fellowship

Purpose: support travel to study excavations and collections overseas

Qualification: working in Near Eastern archaeology (award given only in the absence of qualified candidates in Greek and Roman archaeology); research trip must begin by May 01, 2009 ADDITION!

application must be submitted to Walker 111 by April 07, 2008 NOTE CHANGE!

Honigberg Fellowship for Study in Paris
NEW!

Purpose: fund twelve months of research in Paris

Qualifications: comprehensive exams completed; approved proposal not necessary but students admitted to candidacy may apply

application must be submitted to NELC by April 04, 2008

NELC will forward to Walker 111 by April 14, 2008

Hanna Holborn Gray Fellowship

Purpose: encourage completion of dissertation (three-year award, from proposal to submission)

Qualifications: current third-year student; approved proposal not necessary but recipient must be admitted to candidacy by the end of the fourth year ADDITION!

application must be submitted to NELC by April 11, 2008

NELC will forward to Walker 111 by April 21, 2008

Mellon Graduate Achievement Fellowships

Purpose: recognize truly distinguished performance and scholarly promise

Qualifications: currently in Year 2, 3, or 4 of Scholastic Residence, current funding no more than $5,000 stipend CORRECTION!

application must be submitted to NELC by April 11, 2008

NELC will forward to Walker 111 by April 21, 2008

Division of the Humanities Travel Grants

Purpose: support for short-term, research-related travel

Qualifications: admitted to candidacy before departure overseas; research project must be completed by May 1, 2009

application must be submitted to Walker 111 by May 7, 2008 NOTE CHANGE!
