Michael Murrin

Michael Murrin is the Raymond W. and Martha Hilpert Gruner Distinguished Service Professor in the Humanities, Professor of Comparative Literature, Professor of English, and Professor in the Divinity School at the University of Chicago.

Professor Murrin's current project, Romance and Asian Trade in Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe, is a study of the growth of middle class culture and its interest in aristocratic romance. This work also examines the simultaneous development of trade across Asia and its effect on the romance. This study explores the imagination and attitudes which still affect thinking about Asia to this day.
