Provost's Summer Fellowship

 
 

Terms: The University of Chicago Provost's Summer Fellowship will provide a limited number of summer fellowships for Summer 2007, Summer 2008, and Summer 2009. The Fellowship provides $3,000 to doctoral students in Scholastic Residence who matriculated prior to Spring 2007, who meet the eligibility criteria below, and who wish to engage in academic-related activities during the Summer Quarter. The fellowship can be used for - but is not limited to - the following purposes: proposal preparation, exam preparation, dissertation research or write-up, language study at the University of Chicago or another domestic or foreign institution, collaborative project with faculty.

Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in full-time Scholastic Residence in the Divinity School, Humanities Division, or Social Sciences Division and have matriculated prior to Spring 2007. Preference will be given to meritorious applicants who have no other summer funding and who have not previously received summer funding. Both U.S. citizens and international students are eligible. At the end of the summer, recipients must submit a summary of Provost's Summer Fellowship activities to their Dean of Students.

Application: 1) Provost's Summer Fellowship application form, 2) statement of purpose of no more than 500 words describing proposed use of Provost's Summer Fellowship funds, 3) letter of support from a faculty member who is familiar with the applicant's work and who endorses the proposed use of Fellowship funds.

Deadline: Applications are typically due to the student's Dean of Students office in mid-April.
