The Dean of Students office works to assist graduate students at all stages of their studies who seek funding to support their scholarly work. The Dean of Students office provides several services to help students find appropriate internal or external funding, including notifying students of new opportunities, meeting individually and developing targeted searches based on a student's timetable and research interests, and reviewing fellowship proposals and grant applications. Funding may come from the University or the Division through internal fellowships. External funding opportunities also offer a means of funding students.
Sarah Tuohey, the Assistant Dean of Students for Admissions and Fellowships is available to meet with students to talk about particular needs and constraints in seeking funding. She offers help with preparing grant and fellowship applications, from offering advice on project descriptions to working out the details of a budget. Assistance with grant reporting is also available. She also maintains a weblog that provides searchable information about funding opportunities for students and recent graduates - see Grants/Fellowships Blog in the menu to the left. You should also check the student calendar regularly for dates of major fellowship competitions and grant opportunities that occur throughout the year. The Office of Graduate Affairs also compiles funding information that may prove helpful.
