Terms: The Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowships support students with outstanding ability and financial need who hold promise for achievement and distinction in their chosen fields of study. The fellowships cover the cost of tuition and provide a stipend of $18,000. Awards are renewable and can fund students for a maximum of three years, although fellows must request renewal funds for each subsequent year. Each department is invited to nominate one student and the fellowship competition is managed by the Deans of Students in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Awards are announced in late spring.
Eligibility: Graduate students who have outstanding records, can demonstrate financial need, and are U.S. citizens.
Application: 1) a completed preliminary application form, 2) letters of recommendation from the department chair and from two professors who have taught or worked closely with the student, 3) a statement from the student (2-3 pages) describing his or her program of study and professional goals, 4) a copy of the student's vita, and 5) a copy of Federal Income Tax Returns of the student and spouse for the prior two years.
Deadline: Departmental nominations are due in the Dean of Students office, Walker 111, in late autumn quarter.
