ARTFL Project: User Reports
The ARTFL Project makes every effort to provide
accurate and effective access to the TLF and other databases
we provide. However, we are
aware of numerous problems which arise from the contents
of the database and/or search and reporting engines developed
at the ARTFL Project and the University of Chicago. While some of
thes problems can be fixed in short order, others involve
significant and expensive re-working of data files and
search engine components which cannot be rapidly implemented
because of the size of the database(s) and scale of our
search engines. We are beginning to collect bug and
problem reports from users which will publish here in
order to
- alert other users to potential problems,
- provide a forum for discussion of these kinds of issues, and
- provide ARTFL some direction for future research and development.
To this end, we strongly encourage users who are having problems
with ARTFL to draft bug reports, possible work arounds or
other solutions, in HTML or ascii and e-mail them to
mark@gide.uchicago.edu.
We may append comments to these reports indicating why these
problems may arise, what corrective steps might be taken,
and how these changes might fit into future developments.

ARTFL Project: Corpus Revision Project
The ARTFL Project has been working on a long-term corpus
correction project. Funded by a generous grant from the
National Endowment for the Humanities, we finished correcting
and re-tagging about 55% of the main ARTFL database.
I will be posting exact specifications of the correction
and re-tagging project and the material we have corrected
to date. I hope that some of the problems identified in
user bug and problem reports may be corrected as part of
our Corpus Revision Project.
